This is one of our beautiful Louisiana bayou scenes that I painted on my parents’ back porch the week before I left home in 2011 for Air Force basic training. Sitting on that porch now for a long over due visit, I look at that painting, and I am reminded of all the significance changes that have taken place since then. Over all for the better, having met my wonderful husband in the military. But I can’t help but think of the family members I have lost while I was away. You never know when you will see someone for the last time. Perhaps the name of this painting should be changed to nostalgia.
