Hey y’all! Please forgive me for being out of touch for a while, as I’ve spent the past couple of months in Japan. And I’ve actually been pretty busy. It has been my goal to keep y’all updated on the progress of my novel, Mellie: A Story of Vinyl and Candy, and the steps I was taking to get it publish. Well I’m proud to say that it is finally complete and will be available January 5th as an e-book.
Originally I intended to get this book traditionally published by going through an agent. Many, many agents along with many, many rejection letters. It’s disheartening to put your “baby” out there multiple times, wringing your hands, and waiting for the letter from the agent saying, “Hey, I love your work, and I would love to represent you.” As I’m sure many of you know, it’s not as easy as all that. And in all fairness, those agents receive so many queries daily that it can be quite a task skimming through them to decide the ones that are good and marketable.
After further research into traditional publishing vs. independent publishing, I began to realize that with this being my first novel, the independent route was the better option for me. I decided to go through Bookbaby to publish my book, because they offer assistance every step of the way from the cover design to e-book conversion and formatting. So far I have been very pleased, but I still have a lot more to learn about the process. I will be sure to keep y’all updated as I go along. Have a fantastic week and always be willing to throw yourself out there!
