Good morning y’all! Today I wanted to share a poem from Mellie’s diary that captures the raw emotion of what she is going through with her boyfriend, Thomas Scalia. This is the critcal turning point when she acknowledges their relationship is toxic, but she is not yet ready to give up on him, on the idea she can save him from himself. So she clings to his over used word of how much he needs her.

I sit on top of the moon

And I watch you

I see how tainted you are

How wasted your life is

And I watch you fall

I sit on top of the moon

I hear you scream

You want me to catch you

Can’t I save you?

I hear you cry

I sit on top of the moon

And you look up at me

I’m your reality

You need me
